TRENTON - At the end of today's session, Senate President Nick Scutari made an announcement concerning the budget.

Leadership continued to talk behind the scenes on Thursday with no apparent resolution to the StayNJ debacle.

Big Stay fight expected, sources say.

Senate Leadership doesn't care as much as Assembly leadership.

With no show of drama or note of backroom intrigue, "I anticipate the budget committee meeting Wednesday and Friday of next week and final summer votes will be Monday the 29th and or Tuesday the 30th," said the Senate President.

"Right now, it's scheduled for the 30th."

Then he added, grimly, "It could be later - who knows."

Scutari dropped the gavel.

Sources said the budget committee will meet Wednesday for non-budget bills and Friday for the budget, even as at least one major piece remains unresolved.
