SEIU NJ State Council Endorses Congressional Candidates

The SEIU NJ State Council announces its endorsement of a slate of Congressional candidates who have demonstrated a consistent commitment to advancing the interests of working families, protecting labor rights and promoting social justice across New Jersey.
“At a time when working people face rising costs of living, attacks on services working people rely on, and uncertainty around critical and important social issues, strong and principled leadership in Congress has never been more essential,” said Megan Chambers, SEIU NJ State Council President, and Co-Manager of the Laundry, Distribution, and Food Service Joint Board, Workers United, SEIU. “Progress is built by working people, workers are the backbone of New Jersey’s economy and we proudly support candidates who not only recognize this truth but act on it. Their leadership and their continued advocacy are vital to working families and the future of our state.”

- Advocating for sensible and humane treatment of immigrant communities, including supporting the continuation of TPS protections for Haitian immigrants
- Addressing the rising cost of living, fighting for policies that make housing, healthcare, and everyday essentials more affordable
- Championing economic justice, defending access to healthcare, and demanding that prosperity be shared by the workers who create it
The SEIU NJ State Council is composed of unions representing service employees across the state, including health care, warehouse, laundry, and school cafeteria workers. Our diverse membership also includes motor vehicle inspectors, resident physicians, and municipal employees in Newark. The council includes 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, Laundry, Distribution and Food Service Joint Board of Workers United; The Committee of Interns and Residents, and 32BJ Motor Vehicle Inspectors.
