Sherrill (FULL!) Inauguration Details

Today, the Governor’s Oath of Office (LIVE STREAM HERE) will be administered to Mikie Sherrill by State Supreme Court Chief Justice Stuart Rabner. Sherrill will be sworn in on William Paterson's bound copy of the Constitution of the State of New Jersey, the U.S. Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence, held by Jason Hedberg, Sherrill's husband.
The inaugural event today features an exhibit of Page One of New Jersey’s ratification of the United States Constitution, courtesy of the State Archives. New Jersey approved the proposed federal charter on December 18, 1787, making it the third state to join the Union. This original parchment copy of the Constitution which will be on stage with Sherrill is one of only 13 copies known to still be in existence.
The Lieutenant Governor’s Oath of Office will be administered to Dr. Dale G. Caldwell by State Supreme Court Chief Justice Stuart Rabner. The first pastor elected Lt. Gov., he will be sworn in on his family’s Bible, held by his daughter Ashley.

Pledge of Allegiance: Emerson Crooks began his studies in Power Systems Engineering in 1967 before joining the United States Marine Corps and serving honorably in Vietnam, earning medals and commendations. He is proud of his service and his fellow Marine Vietnam Veterans. After returning home, he built a distinguished career in power engineering, serving as Field Engineering Manager for Federal Pacific Electric Co. and later as President of Monroe Matic Manufacturing and President & CEO of Gavan Graham Electric. Emerson continues to honor his fallen brothers through community service and veteran advocacy. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Mental Health Association of Essex and Morris Counties, the Randolph Juvenile Conference Committee, and the Morris County Advisory Council on Aging, Disabilities, and Veterans Services. He also co-chairs the VA NJ Health Care System Veterans Advisory Council for Mental Health and is a lifetime member of the VFW and DAV.
The National Anthem: Genesis Rincon is a senior at Stockton University from Paterson, New Jersey. The eldest of three in a single-mother household, she attended Passaic County Vocational High School, where she studied performing arts with a focus on vocal music. After discovering Stockton through a friend and touring the campus, she enrolled as a First-Generation student with scholarship support and joined the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program. Genesis initially majored in Elementary Education before finding her passion in Social Work, adding a minor in Disability Studies. While music remains an important part of her life, she now pursues it as a personal interest alongside her academic and professional goals. She is expected to graduate in May 2026.

Invocation: The Reverend Dr. Charles F. Boyer is a third-generation African Methodist Episcopal preacher. He is the pastor of Greater Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Trenton, New Jersey, and the founder of Salvation and Social Justice, a non-partisan Black faith-rooted public policy organization. He is also a Senior Consultant to the Social Action Commission of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Reverend Boyer is the leading faith voice in New Jersey for racial justice issues. His advocacy led to several statewide policy changes such as racial impact analysis, closure of youth prisons, voting rights restoration for the formerly incarcerated, independent prosecutors, community reinvestment through cannabis taxes, and restricting solitary confinement.
