Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti, a member of Governor-elect Phil Murphy’s transition team and the former Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, is a finalist to head the New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT), sources say.

She’s not a done deal – just jousting for the finish line.

Later Tuesday night, sources told InsiderNJ that Gutierrez-Scaccetti had indeed outdueled the late competition to land the coveted gig, announcement scheduled for Wednesday.

Prior to overseeing Florida’s 460-mile Turnpike System, an appointment she landed in 2011, Gutierrez-Scaccetti served as Executive Director of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. She retired from that position after a 21-year career.

She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut and a Master’s from Rutgers.

A source with knowledge about the transportation transition team told InsiderNJ that Gutierrez-Scacetti took a lead in running the early meetings, and clearly demonstrated a veteran’s knowledge of the issues to the rest of the group.
