Unite Here Local 54 PAC Endorses Norcross, Kennedy, Kim, Smith

Congressman Donald Norcross, who serves on the United States House Committee on Education and Labor, offered his support for the Raise the Wage Act. Democrats argue that passage of the act will increase the national minimum wage, which will lift people out of poverty and stimulate the economy.

The Political Action Committee of Unite Here Local 54 announced their endorsement of Amy Kennedy for Congress in the November Election in CD2, as well as the incumbents in CD1, CD3, and CD4.

“Atlantic and Cape May counties have been hit hard by COVID-19. We have some of the highest unemployment rates in the country. Jeff Van Drew hasn’t said one thing about extending unemployment, protecting healthcare or looking out for workers in this crisis. We need someone who will stand up the working people of South Jersey in Washington D.C. Amy Kennedy is who we need. She is going to stand up for protecting healthcare, extending unemployment and make sure our economy in Atlantic City comes back strong.” Said Cate Dziegrenuk a Banquet Server at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City.

The Unite Here Local 54 PAC also announced the following Congressional Endorsements:

Andy Kim (D) Congressional District 3

Donald Norcross (D) Congressional District 1

Chris Smith Congressional District 4

“Andy, Don, and Chris have consistently stood up for working people in Congress. We need to make sure that their voices continue to advocate for workers in Washington D.C..” said Bob McDevitt President of Unite Here Local 54.

The Unite Here Local 54 PAC will make it’s announcement of local election endorsements next week. The Local 54 Political Action committee is comprised of union members from a diverse cross section of the union’s membership. Unite Here Local 54 has over 10,000 members working in the hotel, gaming, and food service industries across New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania.
