Vitale Condemns Reckless Comments on Acetaminophen and Vaccines

Insider NJ's Fred Snowflack discusses how Gov. Phil Murphy's absence at a ceremony held by Senator Joe Vitale to commemorate the signing of a bill by the governor that expand the rights of sexual abuse victims is very telling.

Senator Joe Vitale, Chair of the Senate Health Committee, issued the following statement in response to comments from President Donald Trump regarding acetaminophen use during pregnancy and his skepticism toward childhood vaccines:

“The President’s remarks about the dangers of taking acetaminophen during pregnancy, and his broader skepticism of proven vaccines like Hepatitis B, are irresponsible and reckless. Offering unverified medical advice, particularly on issues as serious as prenatal health and childhood immunizations, puts lives at risk.

"Pregnant individuals and parents should never be forced to weigh political rhetoric against the guidance of their doctors. These are deeply personal, health-critical decisions that must be based on science and medical expertise, not conspiracy theories or fearmongering.

"Trusted sources like the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Medical Association provide evidence-based medical guidance. People must rely on these experts, not politicians, for health advice.

"We cannot allow misinformation to jeopardize the safety of mothers, babies, and children. Reckless comments like these undermine public health, erode trust in medical professionals, and put vulnerable lives at risk.”
