What Mayor Michele Lee Wants to Hear from Jockeying CD-7 Candidates

HIGH BRIDGE - Michele Lee made history here in 2018 when she became the first woman elected to the office of Mayor in this western high country Hunterdon County town.
Reelected in 2022, Lee continues to make improvements in High Bridge, which she discussed with InsiderNJ this morning over coffee.
The mayor - a Democrat - also considered the developing primary in CD-7, where multiple candidates seek support to run against incumbent U.S. Rep. Tom Kean, Jr. (R-7), who's up for reelection next year.
Lee hasn't backed anyone yet, but she's curious about what those who are running would do for High Bridge, just as she is interested in the developing administration of Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill.
"We have two developments coming into town," the mayor said. "One is 25 units and another one - a rehabilitation project much needed after 40 years of the old Exact Level and Tool property - is also apartments coming into town. High Bridge was recently designated a transit village, which is really exciting. We have a beautiful train station at the end of the Raritan Valley Line. The designation opens us up for grant opportunities and beautification of the station itself and promotes walkability and bike riding."
The town just received another $240K to make park improvements.
