Wisniewski Champions a State Attorney General Elected by the People

Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno wants the people of New Jersey to elect the state attorney general, a policy point Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D-19) says he supported long before the LG made it a part of her platform.

“I’m happy that she endorsed our plan,” Wisniewski told InsiderNJ at Wednesday’s New Jersey Transportation Transaction Conference.

“Welcome,” added the veteran chairman of the Assembly Transportation committee from Sayreville.

InsiderNJ asked Wisniewski, who’s running for the Democratic nomination for governor, if an elected AG would not deprive the New Jersey governor of power. “The New Jersey Governor is too powerful,” Wisniewski said, arguing for a second, independent set of state-level eyes on an administration.
