Zdan: Weinberg Says She May Reconvene Alvarez Hearing

Comments from Senators Loretta Weinberg and Kristin Corrado show that with the School Development Authority's (SDA) hiring of Al Alvarez, people failed, not the public system. Alvarez was given a high-powered state job after being accused of raping a woman who also landed a high-powered state job.

Alex Zdan, host of New Jersey Power and Politics, this afternoon tweeted the contents of his exclusive interview with Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (D-37) and Assemblywoman Nancy Munoz (R-21).

According to Zdan, Weinberg and Munoz said they may reconvene the select legislative committee investigating Al Alvarez’s hiring to hear from at least one witness blocked from testifying by a non-disclosure agreement with Phil Murphy’s 2017 gubernatorial campaign.

Weinberg told Zdan that campaign staffers who signed a NDA did so only to protect “proprietary information.”
