Christie Tests Positive For COVID-19

Former Governor Chris Christie talks to Axios on HBO, discussing his own vetting dossier and removal as head of President Donald Trump's transition team. He says Trump had a monumental staffing failure.

Former Governor Chris Christie has tested positive for COVID-19.

Christie was part of President Trump’s debate prep team and noted on ABC News earlier this week that he was in a room with maskless White House staffers and advisers; Trump announced he is positive for the virus on Friday morning.

Christie said he was in a room at the White House from Saturday afternoon through lunchtime on Tuesday. During his debate preparation of Trump he said the room contained “about five or six people in total,” and “no one was wearing masks.”

The former governor said he noticed no symptoms exhibited by the president or by Trump’s aide, Hope Hicks, who also tested positive for the coronavirus.

From CNN:

“Other members of the President’s debate prep team and inner circle have since announced they have tested positive for the virus.
“Former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, who attended the Rose Garden nomination ceremony and helped with debate prep sessions, announced Friday that she had tested positive. Trump’s campaign manager, Bill Stepien, tested positive for Covid-19 Friday night, according to an official.”

Regarding Trump’s condition, CNN this morning reported the following:

“A source familiar with the President’s health told the White House pool on background that ‘the President’s vitals over last 24 hours were very concerning and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care. We are still not on a clear path to a full recovery.’

“Just moments ago, Trump’s physician Dr. Sean Conley said in a news conference that ‘this morning the President is doing very well.’

“CNN is seeking further clarification from the White House regarding the comment.

“Chief of Staff Mark Meadows was the only other White House official present when doctors came out of the building Saturday at Walter Reed ahead of the press conference.”
