NJEDA Task Force Reschedules Hearing to Present Findings of Tax Incentives Investigation

NJEDA Tax Incentive Task Force Counsel Jim Walden

TRENTON — “The Task Force on EDA’s Tax Incentives previously announced that the third day of its public hearing would take place on Tuesday, June 11.  After that announcement, certain parties filed a motion seeking to block the scheduled hearing and issuance of the Task Force’s first public report.  This report was slated to provide, among other things, recommendations to Governor Murphy, the New Jersey State Legislature, and the Economic Development Authority based on the Task Force’s work to date.  The court presiding over the litigation asked that the Task Force postpone the hearing and issuance of its first report to permit the court to review the issues raised in the motion, and the Task Force agreed.  The court has scheduled a hearing on the motion for Monday, June 17.  We are confident that the Governor’s authority to appoint the Task Force will be upheld, and should the court permit the hearing to go forward, we will provide notice to the public about the location and date of the rescheduled proceedings.” —  Task Force on EDA’s Tax Incentives
