Governor Sherrill Shows Solidarity with First Responders in Belleville

BELLEVILLE - Governor Mikie Sherrill this evening toured the sight of the mattress factory fire in the Valley section of town that caved in almost an entire city block.

Governor Sherrill appeared with Belleville Mayor Mike Melham and a contingent of leaders and elected officials that included U.S. Rep. Analilia Mejia (D-11), Eddie Donnelly, President of the FMBA, and Assemblywoman Carmen Theresa Morales (D-29).

There's a May 12th mayor's race in Belleville, incidentally. Check that out HERE.

From CBS earlier today:

Firefighters are still putting out hot spots on buildings destroyed by a massive warehouse fire in Belleville, New Jersey, that started on Sunday.

Responders have been at the scene on Cortlandt Street around the clock. Smoke can still be seen as firefighters spray down the debris.

Crews are continuing to demolish the damaged buildings. Work started Wednesday, with large excavators ripping through charred metal and collapsed buildings.
