David Richter Running in the CD2 GOP Primary

Millionaire David Richter will run for the Republican nomination for The United States House of Representatives in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District, where U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew is the incumbent.

Harry Hurley this morning reports that millionaire David Richter will run for the Republican Nomination for The United States House of Representatives in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District.

That’s where U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew (D-2) is the incumbent.

Hurley says Richter may self-fund.

Defense contractor Brian Fitzherbert is already in the Republican Primary.

The 2018 Republican nominee for Congress, movement conservative Seth Grossman, derided Richter’s candidacy on Facebook, likening it to “Bob Hugin 2.0.”

Hugin was the self-funding Republican nominee for the United States Senate who lost to incumbent Democrat Bob Menendez by 11 percentage points. Responding to Grossman, Richter stuck up for Hugin and slapped the movement conservative.

“Last year, Bob Hugin won the 2nd District by 10 points, you lost it by 8 points. So I guess I’d rather be Bob Hugin 2.0 than Seth Grossman 1.0,” the millionaire wrote in a Facebook post.
