LD15 Flashpoint: Sollami-Covello Out

Count Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami-Covello out of the running of those feeling out a potential run for the assembly seat to be vacated by Treasurer-elect Assemblywoman Liz Muoio.

Sollami-Covello announced on Facebook that she will not seek the Assembly seat in the 15th Legislative District.

“I will be endorsing a candidate shortly,” said the clerk. “I initially did express some interest in this position and I believe that based on my very strong record as a County-wide Office holder, I would have been the leading candidate for this position.”

Sources in Mercer say Sollami-Covelo’s residency in Lawrenceville poses a problem for her, as state Senator Shirley Turner (D-15) already has the town on lockdown.

With Assemblyman Reed Gusciora (D-15) inhabiting Trenton, Ewing or Hopewell appear more readily in play for a representative.
