Paterson Mayor to Require Masks Indoors at City of Paterson Facilities

On Tuesday, December 28, 2021, Mayor Andre Sayegh will sign an Executive Order mandating that everyone while indoors at any facility owned or operated by the City of Paterson must wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth at all times. The aforementioned order aims to ensure the safety of individuals at all city buildings.

The mayor plans to formally put the mandate into place at 11 a.m.

The Paterson mayor’s mask mandate comes on the heels of a similar order in Newark, where Mayor Baraka just today signed an executive order to require proof of vaccination to enter establishments in his city.

It was the second executive order Mayor Baraka signed in a week to fight COVID-19. The previous one reinstated an indoor mask mandate in all public facilities, amid a surge of new cases of COVID-19 in the City of Newark and the emergence of the COVID-19 Omicron variant. It also required that patrons be seated at a bar and wear masks unless they are actually eating or drinking.
