The NJEDA was started by Republicans as a way to show that its party cared about helping NJ businesses prosper and is now under attack by Democrats who, with the NJ Economic Development Task Force, are investigating whether tax credits were given improperly during former Governor Chris Christie's Republican administration. Though no one disputes the idea of the state helping to keep businesses in NJ and helping them thrive, the way the program is administered has become politicized.
