American’s Voice: Reps. LoBiondo, MacArthur, Smith, and Lance: Take Action, Not Words, on ‘Sh*thole’ Comments

Following Trump’s remarks yesterday regarding Haitians, Salvadorans, and Africans, Representatives Frank LoBiondo (NJ-02), Tom MacArthur (NJ-03), Christopher Smith (NJ-04), and Leonard Lance (NJ-07) need to not only denounce these comments, but take action that proves they do not side with the racist instincts of some within the GOP.  The Dream Act has bipartisan support and is being considered for inclusion in the year-end spending bill in Congress.  Pushing for its enactment is the most concrete way that Reps. LoBiondo, MacArthur, Smith, and Lance could show their constituents that they are willing to be bold leaders who act, not apologists for the President.

“Now all eyes are on Trump’s fellow Republicans in Congress. This is a moment of reckoning.  Simply denouncing Trump’s words is not enough.  Our leaders need to do things that bring Americans together, not pit them against each other.  The Dream Act would do just that.  It has bipartisan support among Americans and it has bipartisan support in Congress” said Lynn Tramonte, Deputy Director of America’s Voice.

This is not a normal partisan debate; this is a seminal moment in this presidency to decide how we want history to tell our story. This is a moment of reckoning for Reps. LoBiondo, MacArthur, Smith, and Lance and New Jersey Congressional Republicans. Will they back and fill for the president, or take a step forward and pass Dream Act?
