BERGEN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE TO STEP UP WEEKEND PATROL

Sunday marks one year since tragic attack at Pittsburgh Synagogue

HACKENSACK N.J. – This morning, Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton ordered Sheriff’s Office personnel to increase patrol at synagogues and surrounding areas over the weekend as Sunday marks one year since the tragic attack at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, PA.

While there is no specific or credible threat at this time, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office is operating on heightened alert and is working cooperatively with local law enforcement to ensure the safety of Bergen County residents. Sheriff Cureton reminds resident to always report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.

“Bergen County must continue to be a welcoming place for everyone and that starts with making sure residents feel safe in their respective houses of worship. Anti-Semitism, racism, and bigotry has no home here in Bergen County and it is the mission of the Sheriff’s Office keep all our families, friends, and loved ones safe” said Sheriff Anthony Cureton.
