Burlington County Health Department announces expanded COVID-19 testing hours

WILLINGBORO – The Burlington County Health Department has expanded the hours of operation at its COVID-19 testing site to ensure residents have access to testing during the holidays.

COVID-19 testing will be available on Mondays from 10 AM to 3 PM, Tuesdays from 10 AM to 6 PM, Wednesdays from 10 AM to 6 PM and Thursdays from 10 AM to 6 PM. The site will be closed Friday, Dec. 23, and Friday Dec. 31.

The testing site is located within the Willingboro Town Center, 4390 Route 130 North, Willingboro.

All Burlington County residents ages 5 and older and those who work or go to school in the county are eligible for the testing. Insurance information will be collected but no one will face out-of-pocket expenses or be turned away if uninsured. Walkups are welcome but appointments are encouraged and can be made at www.burlingtoncountytesting.org

Test results are typically returned within 24 to 48 hours.

“Testing is one of the most important tools to try to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and we’re seeing increased demand for it because of the holidays and a surge in infections,” said Dr. Herb Conaway, director of the Burlington County Health Department. “We’re  expanding our testing hours to ensure that residents continue to have access and can remain safe during the holiday season. We’re encouraging anyone who has symptoms or who has been in close contact with someone with COVID to get tested.”

In addition to the County testing site, free at-home testing kits are available for New Jersey residents from the New Jersey Department of Health and Vault Medical Services.

The kits will be shipped to home addresses with instructions on how to log onto a Zoom tele-health meeting with a certified health care worker who will virtually oversee and instruct residents about how to properly collect a saliva sample for shipment to Vault for testing. Residents will typically be notified of test results within 24 to 48 hours after the sample arrives.

In addition to offering testing, free COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters are available the Burlington County Vaccine Mega-Site, located in the former A.C. Moore store, 1190 Nixon Drive, Mount Laurel.

The Mega-Site’s operating hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 AM to 4 PM and Thursdays and Fridays from 11 AM to 6 PM. Walk-in slots are available and appointments can be made online at www.virtua.org/services/mega-site-faqs

In addition to the Mega-Site, the Burlington County Health Department will also offer vaccine and boosters on Thursday, Dec. 23, from 3 PM to 7 PM at the Bordentown Township Senior Center, 3 Municipal Drive, Bordentown. The clinic will offer first or second doses of Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccine to anyone 12 or older, as well as boosters for all three vaccines.

Conaway said the vaccines and boosters offer the best defense against COVID-19 and the new Omicron variant.

“We know Omicron is highly-contagious and spreading rapidly, but there’s strong evidence that the vaccines and particularly the boosters provide strong protection against serious illness and death,” Conaway said. “For those who are not yet vaccinated or who are now due for a booster, we’re imploring you to act now. It’s the best way to keep yourself and your family, friends and loved ones safe during the holidays.”
