WASHINGTON, DC – Earlier this week, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) met with local leaders on the front lines of the opioid and addiction crisis at Oaks Integrated Care in Mt. Holly to discuss efforts in New Jersey and Congress to address these critical issues.

“When it comes to addressing the opioid and addiction epidemic, it’s absolutely critical to listen to those on the front lines and to bring their expertise back to Congress,” said Congressman Kim. “The OPEN Agenda that I introduced last week and the funds I helped deliver last month were sparked by conversations like these. I want to thank our neighbors at Oaks Integrated Care for the work they do for our community, and I look forward to bringing their thoughts and concerns back to my colleagues to find desperately needed solutions.”

The visit comes days after Congressman Kim introduced the Opioid Prevention and Education Now (OPEN) Agenda, three bills aimed at increasing awareness of opioid and addiction solutions and transparency of the opioid approval process.

“We appreciate the opportunity to sit down and meet with Congressman Kim to discuss our opioid addiction programs and share personal experiences from our staff,” said Mike D’Amico, Vice President of Oaks Integrated Care. “It is extremely important that we come together as a community in order to raise awareness, provide essential services and ultimately save lives.”

In his first year in Congress, Congressman Kim helped deliver $500 million in funding to develop new treatments for those with opioid and addiction issues, met with local leaders and families dealing with the opioid epidemic, and held a town hall meeting to discuss potential solutions for New Jersey.
