Conservation Organizations Celebrate $96,400 in Federal Funds to Improve the Musconetcong River
New Funding Opportunity Opens Doors to Address Flooding, Water Quality

 

 

 

WHO: Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed, Musconetcong Watershed Association, New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, Washington Township, more TBA

WHAT: Press conference followed by a pre-restoration walking tour that will highlight issues facing the Musconetcong River

WHERE: Park at Farmview Golf Center, 15 East Avenue, Hackettstown, NJ, then cross the street

WHEN: Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 11 a.m.

WHY: On November 20, Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed, Musconetcong Watershed Association, New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, and Washington Township (Morris County) will gather along the banks of the Musconetcong River to celebrate a new grant from the Delaware Watershed Conservation Fund. A total of $96,400 was received by Musconetcong Watershed Association and with their matching funds, $192,800 will be leveraged for floodplain and stream restoration that will reduce flooding and improve water quality on the Musconetcong River, the longest tributary of the Delaware River in New Jersey. Musconetcong Watershed Association has partnered with the Highlands Council, Washington Township, and Hackettstown on the project; and will highlight project benefits during a walking tour.

Note: This is a rain or shine event. Attendees are encouraged to wear boots, dress warmly, and bring an umbrella in case of rain.
