Councilmen Amatorio and Rivera’s Annual Community Health Fair Taking Place This Sunday, October 20

The Health Fair matches Bergenfield residents with free health services

BERGENFIELD, NJ — Bergenfield Councilman Arvin Amatorio’s annual Community Health Fair is taking place this Sunday October 20 from 8:00am-12:00pm at St. John’s Conlon Hall at 19 North William St., Bergenfield. It is a joint venture co-sponsored by Councilman Hernando Rivera.

“I would like to thank all of the health experts for taking time out of their busy schedules to volunteer their time and invaluable services to Bergenfield residents,” said Councilman Arvin Amatorio. “This is a service the residents of Bergenfield deserve, and since the Borough doesn’t sponsor a health fair, I am proud to host this event at no cost to residents. I would like to thank Councilman Hernando Rivera for co-sponsoring, and the Knights of Rizal, and Holy Name Medical Center’s Asian Health Services Filipino Medical Program for giving their time this Sunday.”

Amatorio has sponsored this health fair annually since 2016. His wife, Ilya Evangelista-Amatorio, is a healthcare professional at Mt. Sinai Hospital, and first encouraged him to sponsor this annual health fair, after many of her patients in the New York area spoke of not being aware of preventative screenings and services offered by state and local agencies. Mrs. Evangelista-Amatorio will be among those volunteering at the health fair, which will include testing for blood pressure, cholesterol, vision and much more.

“Since Arvin began hosting these annual health fairs three years ago, residents have expressed their appreciation of these necessary services, which are invaluable to working people who don’t have the luxury of seeking municipal or County services during Monday-Friday government office hours,” said Councilman Hernando Rivera. “This is a service not currently provided by Borough Hall, but I am confident that if Arvin is elected Mayor this November 5, he will not only continue personally funding these great annual fairs, but utilize borough resources to spread health services awareness to all residents, especially those who speak English as a second language, year-round.”

Those interested in taking advantage of these free services should go to St John’s Conlon Hall located at 19 North William Street in Bergenfield between 8:00am and 12:00pm. Read more about the Holy Name Medical Center’s Asian Health Services here.
