ELEC825: Still too many unanswered questions on EV Legislation signed into Law

The New Jersey Statehouse and Capitol Building In Trenton

Statement from Mark Longo, Director of Engineers Labor-Employer Cooperative (ELEC825)

“The new electric vehicle legislation signed into law today, while laudable in theory, raises more questions than answers.

‘What will happen to energy ratepayers when they’re forced to power 330,000 electric vehicles with a crumbling energy infrastructure?  How will the grid handle that many EV’s being powered at once?  What will happen to our decaying transportation infrastructure since electric vehicle owners contribute nothing to the Transportation Trust Fund and there’s no plan to replace that critical funding?

‘This plan is unfortunately only half the answer, and it’s not on its own making New Jersey more affordable. There’s nothing wrong with being ambitious, but we shouldn’t do it on the backs of New Jersey residents who need a break the most.”
