EMILYs List Condemns the Trump Administration and Jack Ciattarelli’s Illegal & Politically Motivated Leak of Mikie Sherrill’s Military Records
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, new reporting from CBS News revealed the National Archives illegally leaked Rep. Mikie Sherrill’s full, unredacted Navy personnel file — including her Social Security number, home address, and insurance records — at the request of a Jack Ciattarelli operative. Donald Trump fired the nonpartisan professional head of the organization and replaced him with a political ally, allowing this leak to occur. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“The National Archives leak of Mikie Sherrill’s personal information is an illegal and disturbing act pushed by Jack Ciattarelli's team for political gain. Veterans, like Mikie Sherrill, fearlessly protected our country and should expect our country to protect their private information in return. This is just the latest example of the Trump administration weaponizing nonpartisan services of the federal government to help himself and his Republican allies, and the only way to stop their recklessness is to take back power by electing Democratic women up and down the ballot.”
