Gerald Falotico Welcomes Mahwah PBA Local 143 Endorsement of Assembly Campaign
28-year Mahwah police veteran endorsed by union he once led
EMERSON, NJ — Emerson Borough Council President Gerald Falotico today gratefully accepted the endorsement of his campaign for Assembly in New Jersey’s 39th District by Mahwah Police Benevolent Association (PBA) Local 143. During his distinguished 28 year career as a police officer in Mahwah, Falotico served for ten years as president of PBA Local 143.
“It was an incredible honor to serve alongside my brother and sister officers in Mahwah for 28 years, and to represent their interests as PBA president,” Falotico said. “It is a similar honor to have won their confidence and their support as I run for Assembly. It was my experience as PBA president, watching as Chris Christie’s administration broke promise after promise and turned the livelihoods, healthcare, and retirement security of my fellow officers into a political football, that inspired me to become involved in politics in the first place. So I take this endorsement very seriously and I pledge to my fellow Local 143 members, past, present, and future that I will not let you down.”
Bill Hunt, current president of the Mahwah PBA said, “Gerry proudly served the residents of Mahwah for nearly 3 decades in various positions from dispatcher to detective. Gerry also served the men and women of the Mahwah PBA by representing them as president for 10 years of his career. Regardless of his role, Gerry always took his job very seriously as demonstrated by the time he took to understand the problems we faced and the possible solutions and available resources. During his career Gerry demonstrated time and again his complete devotion to not only keeping the people of Mahwah safe, but also fighting to make sure that his brother and sister officers received the recognition for the great work they did and continue to do on behalf of the community. Because of his experience as the head of Mahwah’s collective bargaining unit and his law enforcement related interactions with the general public, Gerry truly understands issues, like the complexities of healthcare, facing not just police families, but all families in New Jersey. At a time when more and more police officers, as well as average residents, are watching their paychecks shrink and the security of their retirement benefits disappear, we need people like Gerry representing us in Trenton.”
