HCDO CHAIR GUY STATEMENT ON CIATTARELLI DISPARAGING POLICE AND FIRE
HUDSON COUNTY – Hudson County Democratic Organization Chair Craig Guy today expressed outrage at gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli’s comments that police and fire are overpaid. MAGA Jack’s comments came when he was a member of the New Jersey General Assembly, leading the charge to try and gut the benefits members had earned.
“As a former member of law enforcement myself, it makes me angry to see gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli dismiss the sacrifices made by police and fire and the work they do every day on the job to keep our streets and neighborhoods protected.
I suppose I shouldn’t be too surprised given his repeated attacks on Mikie Sherrill’s history of service to our country in the U.S. Navy and as a federal prosecutor, but it is still stunning to hear Jack so confidently disparage the same people has been trying to court for support over the last few months.
I can only hope that any people currently serving the public would recognize Jack for who he is after seeing this video. When Chris Christie originally ran for Governor over 15 years ago he told members of police and fire that he would never harm their earned pensions and benefits, and then he made the destruction of those same earned benefits and pensions a priority while he vilified those members in the public.
At least Jack is telling everyone right up front who he is. Hopefully everyone will listen this time.”

“Dare I say That municipal police are, on average, more than well-paid. Yes, police and fire put their lives on the line, but of their own free will. I know of other more dangerous professions that pay less.”
