“The Sacco Machine’s old school bullying politics are a thing of the past.”
HUDSON COUNTY – The Hudson County Democratic Organization today released the following statement on last night’s overwhelming victory for Mikie Sherrill, Dale Caldwell, and Democrats throughout the county thanking Democrats throughout the county and declaring the misogyny and bullying of Nick Sacco and his Machine a thing of the past.
As of last night, Governor-elect Sherrill had over 120k votes, representing almost 75% of the total cast county-wide, a historic plurality which is second only to Sherrill's home county of Essex. The votes for the Governor-elect include a clean sweep of all 39 districts across the seven wards that comprise North Bergen. North Bergen Mayor Sacco chose to endorse Republican Jack Ciattarelli, the 1990’s Buffalo Bills of New Jersey politics, after previously endorsing Republican Frank Schillari in his losing bid for County Sheriff.
The historic victory for Mikie Sherrill, Dale Caldwell, and Democrats up and down the ballot in Hudson was a testament to the hard work and dedication of so many throughout the county. We were proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with our county Democratic mayors in support of Mikie and Dale during the Democratic primary and across these last weeks and months of her incredibly hard-fought campaign.
We firmly believe yesterday’s results are a testament to the value of listening to our fellow democrats in our decision-making process. Through that process we were able to focus our energies on working together to get Mikie and Dale elected with historic turnout and overwhelming pluralities.
Last night was truly a referendum in favor of decency, civility, and inclusiveness, and that was most evident in North Bergen.
Mayor Nick Sacco decided to endorse three-time loser Jack Ciattarelli and the MAGA movement after losing his Senate seat and taking a significant loss in the County Sheriff primary. The total repudiation of the Sacco Team can be attributed at least in part to Nick Sacco’s misogynistic bullying.
It has been widely reported that Mayor Sacco was allegedly on tape threatening a subordinate after she refused his advances. The recordings include the mayor calling her a ‘pig’, ‘stupid’, and a ‘(expletive deleted”) retard’ before telling her to ‘make amends’ for her ‘scumbag behavior’ as he warned the subordinate ‘you don’t know what I am capable of doing’. Last night proved definitively that the Sacco Machine’s old school bullying tactics are a thing of the past and should give pause to anyone looking to associate themselves with Nick or his team. Our politics deserve better than what the Sacco Team has to offer.”
