International sportsbook affiliation company set to launch in NJ
Leadstar Media, a Sweden-based company, with a large portfolio of sportsbook review and comparison sites, will soon launch in New Jersey.
The company is active in sixteen different markets, including the UK, Germany and Brazil. After the US senate ruling in 2018 that legalized sports betting in the US, they launched two American sites.
The first Betting Scanner offers its readers a state tracker – which shows the legal status of all the states – sportsbook reviews and betting guides. Eskil Kvarnström, Leadstar’s CEO explains why he chose to apply for a license in the Garden State “New Jersey is definitely leading the way in the US when it comes to sports betting – it’s where everyone in the industry wants to be”. Pennsylvania has shown some signs of competition in recent months as well as Indiana and West Virginia.
Their second site United Gamblers compares and reviews online casinos, as well as sportsbooks. A number of retail casinos have made the move online, since the laws have changed, including Golden Nugget, Parx and Ceasars.
New Jersey has created the most attractive market for betting brands to establish themselves in the US, according to the team at Leadstar Media. The state has a reasonable tax rate of 13% on mobile and online sports wagering as well as unrestrictive sign-up and deposit regulation. Nevada was widely considered to dominate the online sports betting industry but the state gambling commission’s insistence that players sign-up, deposit and withdraw in person has opened the way for New Jersey to become the center for US gambling.
The online gambling industry in the US is still in its infancy, which is why Leadstar Media believes that the company can bring some international experience to the table. Jacob Ljunggren the product manager at Leadstar Media explains “Many of our staff have over a ten years experience in online sports betting – so with our US sites we are looking to merge our international experience with local knowledge”.
With three professional teams – The New York Jets (NFL), The New York Giants (NFL) and the New Jersey Devils (NHL) the potential for sports betting in a state of 9 million is huge. After the recent start of the NFL season, New Jersey actually surpassed Nevada in terms of sports bets for the first time. Eighty per cent of those bets were placed online.
