James Solomon Announces Top Priorities to Make Jersey City Affordable
Jersey City, NJ - Today, James Solomon unveiled his priorities to make Jersey City affordable. The plan includes building real affordable housing with some rents less than $1,000 and dedicated housing for frontline workers, capping rent increases, stabilizing property taxes, and creating 1,000 youth jobs.
Jersey City mayoral candidate James Solomon said: “We need to make Jersey City affordable and I am the only one with a plan to make it happen. Whether it’s rents under $1,000, capping rent increases, stabilizing property taxes or investing in young people, we can make Jersey City a better place for all. We’ve been talking about affordability since day 1 of this campaign and as Mayor, I’ll be laser focused on bringing down costs for Jersey City families.”
James Solomon’s Plan To Make Jersey City Affordable
- Build real affordable housing by
- Requiring all new large-scale developments to include 20% affordable units with rents under $2,000, $1,500 and $1,000 a month.
- Build workforce housing for frontline workers such as teachers, firefighters, police officers, and healthcare professionals to live and own homes in the city they serve.
- Cap rent increases by standing up to greedy developers and Wall Street
- Stabilize property taxes by rooting out waste and corruption in our city government
- Invest in Jersey City’s young people by:
- Creating 1,000 additional youth summer jobs — including internships, apprenticeships and mentorships — to build skills and create career pathways,
- Dramatically expanding after-school programs and offerings
- Establishing the first free rec center in Jersey City.
