John Flora: NJ Drivers Licenses for Everyone: It’s about dignity and respect

Carl Golden, senior contributing analyst with the William J. Hughes Center for Public Policy at Stockton University, argues that despite continual mass shooting incidents in the U.S., gun rights absolutists will win Congress once more, and either no or purely cosmetic action will take place.

NJ Drivers Licenses for Everyone:

It’s about dignity and respect

Rosa Lopez told northjersey.com: “We want our representatives to know that we are here…It doesn’t matter our immigration status. We still have the right to a life with dignity and respect. Just like anybody else, we work here and we pay taxes.”

Democratic primary candidate John Flora (NJ-10) is proud to endorse the latest action in the N.J. Legislature with the move to create a path to drivers licenses, regardless of immigration status. Living in this state, he knows the importance of having such a privilege.

“Transportation across this state is in need of drastic improvement”, said Flora. “Many need a license for work. They should be able to drive. It’s that simple.”

A teacher in a school district that buses hundreds of immigrant students across a city, Flora is empathetic to the struggle of parents who have a hard time attending school functions and report card nights. “Many parents need to drive” he said. He added that “there is no reason to withhold licenses. That’s inhumane. Let’s uphold dignity and respect for our neighbors, regardless of immigration status.”

The bill has garnered Flora’s support for other reasons. Safer roadways are created when all motorists are insured and licensed to drive. Furthermore, the legislation is anticipated to generate millions of dollars from fees in the first three years alone. This is reason enough to support a bill like this in a fiscally-strained state like New Jersey.

John Flora is running against the Democratic incumbent in District 10 in the June 2nd primary election.
