Governor Phil Murphy’s signature of S2557 now provides The Commissioner of Labor and Workforce Development the highly effective ability to use a stop-work orders as they investigate tax fraud practices in our state. The law passed in New Jersey is the strongest example of the enforcement of stop work orders in the United States, and we look forward to seeing similar laws implemented across the country. We also must thank Democratic Senator Troy Singleton and Republican Senator Steven Oroho for introducing this bi-partisan legislation and providing construction employees in our state the protection to be treated and paid fairly and for protecting fair competition for law-abiding construction employers.
