Mayor Reed Gusciora Announces Willard Stanback as Acting Director of Housing and Economic Development and Sean Semple as Acting Director of Trenton Water Works

Mayor Reed Gusciora today announced Willard Stanback as the Acting Director of the Department of Housing and Economic Development (HED) and Sean Semple as the Acting Director of Trenton Water Works (TWW).
“I am proud to announce these two director appointments. Both Willard and Sean are problem solvers: They are creative, hardworking, and most importantly, they have good judgment. Their leadership will make a real difference in the lives of Trentonians through urban revitalization and improvements in water quality.”
Stanback is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also received a Masters of Engineering and Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia. Stanback has an impressive legal track record. He worked at Morgan & Finnegan, Reed Smith Shaw & McClay, Sega Channel, and Scripps Networks, LLC where he served as Senior Vice-President of Legal Affairs.
Stanback stated, “Building on my years of service on boards providing meaningful support for the City and as a Trenton property owner, I am proud to support this administration’s efforts to revitalize the Capital City. I look forward to working with our intergovernmental, civic, and non-profit partners to bring higher levels of livability to our City through redevelopment, supportive programs, and investment.”
Semple is a graduate of The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. Previously, he served as the Assistant Public Works Director and the Interim General Superintendent of Trenton Water Works.
Semple stated, “I’ve been a civil servant with the city for more than 20 years, and I’m grateful to the Mayor for this opportunity to continue my service as Acting Director of Trenton Water Works, one of the oldest water utilities in the United States.”
Both Stanback and Semple will serve for a ninety-day period as acting directors; subsequently, the Trenton City Council will need to approve both directors
