Rep. Mikie Sherrill Endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund
West Caldwell, NJ — Representative Mikie Sherrill announced today that the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, endorsed her re-election to serve the 11th Congressional District of New Jersey. Representative Sherrill was named to the Environmental Majority Makers program, an effort by LCV Action Fund to defend the pro-environment House majority in the 2020 election cycle.
“New Jersey is leading the way when it comes to growing our clean energy economy and tackling climate change,” said Representative Sherrill. “We know that investments in offshore wind and solar are good for our economy and for our planet. I’ve gone across the community this year, and from Sussex to Essex Counties, I have seen just how strongly our residents support protecting our air, water, and natural resources. I am proud to have the endorsement of LCV Action Fund and share their commitment to protecting the Garden State for the generations to come.”
“We are excited to announce our support of Representative Mikie Sherrill in her bid for re-election,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President for Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “Representative Sherrill has elevated the awareness of the climate crisis as a national security threat and has been a champion for tackling the threat head on.”
“As New Jerseyans we know firsthand the impact that climate change has on our communities and we are proud to be represented by Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill,” said New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Ed Potosnak. “We know that Representative Sherrill will always protect the Jersey’s natural resources like the shore, clean air, and clean water.”
Representative Sherrill has been a strong champion for the environment during her first year in Congress. In 2019, she fought to keep the United States in the Paris Agreement, increase investment in offshore wind, protect Lake Hopatcong from harmful algal blooms, and prevent offshore drilling along the Atlantic Coast. Last week, she assumed the chair of the Environment Subcommittee on the House Science Committee.
