STATEMENT FROM MAYOR BHALLA ON TODAY’S GUILTY PLEA FOR VOTER BRIBERY SCHEME IN HOBOKEN
According to the United States Attorney’s Office, earlier today a Hoboken man admitted to a conspiracy to promote a voter bribery scheme during the 2015 Hoboken municipal election. The guilty plea is the fifth conviction related to voter bribery in Hoboken, including the guilty verdict of Frank Raia for vote-by-mail fraud in the 2013 municipal elections.
“Paying cash for votes will never be tolerated in Hoboken, and I thank the federal authorities for helping root out this illegal activity from our City,” said Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla. “We must redouble our efforts to stamp out voter fraud and protect the integrity of our elections.”
