SWAIN & TULLY HONORING BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH BY PUSHING TO IMPROVE BREAST CANCER CARE

PARAMUS, NJ, Oct. 4^th, 2019: With Breast Cancer Awareness Month beginning this week, Assembly Members Lisa Swain and Chris Tully are advocating for new legislation they have introduced to improve the quality and comprehensiveness of breast cancer care in New Jersey.

Swain and Tully have issued the following statement:

“Tens of thousands of New Jerseyans are either fighting breast cancer or in remission, and we owe it to them to ensure access to the best possible care here in New Jersey. The legislation we have introduced would improve the quality of breast cancer care by providing patients with more information about their options and cutting through health insurance companies’ red tape.

We are determined to see this bill signed into law as soon as possible to show that New Jersey puts everyday people ahead of insurance companies.”

The bill introduced by Swain and Tully, A4738, would specifically require health care providers to provide breast cancer patients with information about reconstructive surgery options and would prevent insurance companies from blocking referrals to out-of-network surgeons.
