AOC Backs Hamawy for Congress, Campaign Says

References to tax increases, cuts, questionable reporting to the Election Law Enforcement Commission, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) were all part of the recent Morris County Freeholders' Republican primary election debate.

Today, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez endorsed Dr. Adam Hamawy, the candiate says, cementing his status as the clear progressive choice in the race for New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District seat, the campaign said in a statement.

“Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a trailblazer for the entire progressive movement. I’ve run a race built around three core ideas: that we should fund healthcare, not bombs, that we must abolish ICE, and that it is long past time we unrig an economy that fails working people daily. I don’t aspire to go to Congress alone – that’s not how this type of change is won. I want to join a growing bloc of fighters who will demand that our government serve the working class, not the billionaires. This campaign is rooted in a movement for political change that Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez helped forge, and it is an honor to receive her endorsement,” said Dr. Adam Hamawy.

Dr. Hamawy has also been endorsed by U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth, Rep. Ro Khanna, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Rep. Delia Ramirez, Rep. Ilhan Omar, Rep. Jill Tokuda, former Rep. Jamaal Bowman, former Rep. Keith Ellison, and former NJ-12 candidate Elijah Dixon. He has been endorsed by over 25 organizations, including Justice Democrats, Common Defense, Rutgers Adjunct Faculty Union, A New Policy PAC, Veterans for Responsible Leadership, Our Revolution, Climate Revolution Action Network, PAL PAC, CAIR Action, and the PCCC.
