Closing Campaign message from Eduardo Castillo, Write in candidate for U.S Senate in New Jersey
Hello everyone, reading this from my hometown of Marlboro, as well as Monmouth County and New Jersey as a whole. My name is Eduardo Castillo, and I'm a political activist who has been publicly championing electoral reform and progressive policies ever since I launched my first political campaign a year ago, which was for the 13th Assembly District in the New Jersey State Assembly.
I never run with the intent to win today, but so that we can win together in the future. I've run against the political establishment three times now, without party or organizational backing, big money, or consultants. Since then, I've seen how dirty, nasty, and shameful our political process and politicians are. I've seen corruption within our county of Monmouth, exposed it, and spoken out against it and those who perpetuate that same corruption. There is work to be done, and I don't intend to give up in this fight for a better Monmouth and for a greater New Jersey. I am not a politician; I am a retail worker who has worked over 6 jobs in retail. I am the average person; I am the average American, and this system does not work for me, you, or anyone who seeks to live in this Country in the future, and that's the crux of my previous campaigns and this current one.
To get things done, we need a huge overhaul of our political system, not only here in Monmouth County or New Jersey, but in the United States as a whole, and to get towards that path we need to change the very structure within our way of government that currently blocks that way of progress, and undermines those who seek to speak out against it, and to change it. And that brings me to this Senate Campaign. I am not running to win, I know that, but I am running to promote electoral reform so that we get the policies that we want to see implemented, enacted in the future, and in order to do that we need to do the following:
-Abolish the senate
- Abolish the electoral college
- Enact Mixed member proportional representation in the House
- Implement Ranked choice voting for the Presidency
- Abolish judicial review
- Expand the courts
- Enact Nationwide same-day and automatic voter registration
- Lower the voting age to 16
- Implement Nationwide no-excuse absentee voting option
-Enact 1.5 month early voting period nationwide
- Guarantee a $35 minimum wage for poll workers
- Make Election Day a federal holiday and require paid time off to vote
- Abolish Super PACs and publicly-finance elections
-Implement Nationwide online voter registration option
- Ban partisan gerrymandering
With those policies coming into fruition, the future is ours to make, and ours to fight to sustain, not only for ourselves, and our children, but for generations to come. I don't seek to oppose any man, but to present new ideas, and to speak for the common folk of America. Our Country has great potential, and we're the ones who'll open up that very potential, but we can't do it relying on the same ol same ol. We need new leadership, new policies, and a new system of governance. We need the electoral reform that was outlined beforehand, and more to fully utilize the great potential that this Country was founded upon, and based on. And a write in for me is a strong way to express our support for those policies, because I'm not on the ballot, so the message will be even stronger depending on how many votes this people powered campaign will receive.
Politics in New Jersey is rotten, we still have the line in practice, even if it's abolished in name. Political organizations, and machines still pick out representatives, we the people do not get a choice unless we're on friendly terms with that same political establishment that makes choices on our behalf without our consent. Politicians in this state have long been selected by their friends, and the political establishment, leaving no choices for us to make for ourselves when it comes to selecting the people that we believe are the best to represent us. If your preferred candidate doesn't get the county party endorsement, they're finished, and that's the simple, but ugly and true reality that we currently face today. And until we get proportional representation, and/or ranked choice voting, we'll continue to be deadlocked between two political parties that represent their own interests, and those of their donors instead of our own. We need true electoral reform in this country, and politicians like Cory Booker only seek to sustain this rotten, and ugly political system that only seems to embellish the very wealthy, and corrupt, without a regard for the people, and our voices.
And I know what some of you may be thinking, isn't writing you in for Senate a wasted vote, will it split the vote? And the answer is no. New Jersey is a blue state like it or not, that's the reality. New Jersey hasn't elected a Republican for Senator since 1972, voted for a Republican for President since 1988, and the last time we elected a Republican for Governor was in 2013, 13 years ago. In the red wave year of 2024, Kamala Harris almost won New Jersey by 6 points, and last year in the governor's election, Mikie Sherrill won New Jersey by above 14 percent of the vote. Cory Booker has won his Senate elections here in New Jersey by more than 54% of the vote since 2013. He won in landslide after landslide, and in his last election he won with 57% of the vote, while his Republican opponent got 40%.
His current Republican opponent is a nobody with no money, party funding, or organizational support, he doesn't even have a wikipedia page or profile picture, come on. His 10,000 dollars isn't going to make a dent when Cory Booker is a nationally known Senator running in a blue wave year with 22 million dollars on his campaign account, so if there's any good year to vote third party, or write in somebody for the U.S Senate, it's this year. And if you want to send a strong message to the political establishment, and espouse strong support for electoral reform, while sending a message in opposition to Booker, and the Democratic, and Republican establishment, then write in Eduardo Castillo, E-D-U-A-R-D-O C-A-S-T-I-L-L-O for U.S Senate in New Jersey this year, thank you.
