Passaic County Swears In Commissioners Michael Ramaglia and Christina Schratz

PATERSON, NJ — Passaic County marked the start of a new chapter in county leadership Wednesday evening, January 7, as Michael Ramaglia and Christina Schratz were officially sworn in as County Commissioners.

Governor-Elect Mikie Sherrill joined county officials, local leaders and community members to celebrate the occasion and recognize the commitment of the newly sworn commissioners to public service.

In addition to the swearing-in ceremonies, the County announced the appointment of Commissioner Sandi Lazzara as Director of the Board of County Commissioners for 2026, with Commissioner Orlando Cruz serving as Deputy Director. These one-year leadership appointments support continuity, collaboration, and a clear strategic direction for the Board as it advances countywide priorities on behalf of residents.

Commissioner Director Sandi Lazzara welcomed the new commissioners and highlighted the importance of collaboration and service at the county level: “Tonight is about leadership, responsibility and the trust placed in public servants by the people of Passaic County. Commissioners Ramaglia and Schratz each bring valuable perspectives and a strong sense of purpose and I am confident they will serve our residents with professionalism and heart.”

Newly sworn Commissioner Michael Ramaglia expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and emphasized his focus on responsiveness and results.

“It is an honor to take this oath and begin serving the residents of Passaic County,” said Commissioner Michael Ramaglia. “Just as I did when I was running for office, I am committed to continuing to listen to our communities, working collaboratively with my colleagues and ensuring county government delivers meaningful results for the people we represent.”

Commissioner Christina Schratz echoed that sentiment, underscoring her dedication to service and accountability.

“I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me,” said Commissioner Christina Schratz. “I look forward to working alongside my fellow commissioners to strengthen county services, support our municipalities and improve quality of life for families across Passaic County.”

The swearing-in ceremony formally marked the beginning of Commissioners Ramaglia’s and Schratz’s terms in office as they join the Passaic County Board of Commissioners in advancing countywide initiatives and services.
