Rep. Analilia Mejia Applauds House Passage of Faster Labor Contracts Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following House passage of the Faster Labor Contracts Act, bipartisan legislation that helps workers secure a first union contract and curbs employer delay tactics, Congresswoman Analilia Mejia (NJ-11) released the following statement:
“I began my career as a union organizer because I believe working people deserve a seat at the table and a voice in the decisions that affect their lives. Unions are one of the most powerful tools we have to build an economy that works for everyone, not just billionaires and corporations. But too often, unscrupulous employers drag out negotiations after workers vote to form a union, delaying the contracts workers fought to win. That's why I am proud to support the Faster Labor Contracts Act. This bipartisan legislation helps ensure that when workers organize, they have a fair path to securing a first contract and prevents bad actors from using delay tactics to undermine collective bargaining.
“I want to thank Congressman Donald Norcross and labor unions across the country for their leadership in advancing this landmark legislation. America was built on the backs of the labor movement, and we should be strengthening workers' ability to organize and bargain collectively, not making it harder. Now the Senate must act quickly to pass the Faster Labor Contracts Act and send it to the President's desk.”
