Source: A Few GOP Names Being Floated For Bergen Sheriff

After being removed from office for racist slurs, former Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino re-joined the county Republican Party, saying that he cannot support the liberal policies of Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy and the extreme progressive initiatives that he says are undermining the safety and the future of NJ.

In the aftermath of the Saudino resignation announcement, three names are floating around in Bergen GOP circles as potential candidates for Bergen sheriff, according to a source:

Alan Brundage, former Bergen County police officer;

Jack DeLorenzo, Hasbrouck Heights mayor and police captain;

And…

Bernie Kerik, former NYC police commissioner and interim interior minister in Iraq.  Kerik lives in Franklin Lakes.

There’s a question as to whether could qualify, but, nontheless, his name is being floated as a possibility.

Here are a few names on the Democratic side.

Bergen officials spent the weekend seeking clarity on a statute that appears to require a special election – though the question remains whether or Saudino has, in fact, legally resigned.  If he hasn’t, he could hang on past the 37 day deadline, and the election would be punted until next year’s general election, when the sheriff’s position would be up, anyway.
