‘Big to do about Nothing’: Bishop Jackson Stands with DA Fani Willis

Bishop Reginald Jackson

Standing outside a Fulton County courtroom, Bishop Reginald Jackson of the AME Church said attorneys for Donald Trump and his alleged co-conspirators look desperate as they try to derail the train of justice by besmirching the reputation of District Attorney Fani Willis.

“I think it’s a big to do about nothing,” said the bishop, formerly of New Jersey, now on the frontline in his home state of Georgia, in the aftermath of Willis’ pushback yesterday against the attorneys’ accusations that she engaged in an improper relationship with Nathan Wade, whom she hired to work on the Trump case.

“They’re just distracting and delaying,” Jackson told InsiderNJ. “Their strategy is to try to delay the trial until after the [presidential] election.”

The trial in question relates to Donald Trump’s attempt to leverage his presidential power to steal the 2020 presidential election in Georgia from Joe Biden, who won the Peach State. Willis’ office in 2023 indicted Trump and 18 others on 41 charges relating to their alleged conspiracy to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia in Trump’s favor.

Trump’s attorneys want to dismantle Willis’ credibility and integrity.

“I think she did well yesterday,” said her ally Jackson. “She’s been going through this for about a month as this as they try to destroy her reputation.

Willis’ father today spoke on his daughter’s behalf at her disqualification hearing, revealing threats against her, and confirming her testimony that he advised her to always keep “a certain amount of money on hand.” Yesterday, the district attorney said she had cash-reimbursed Wade for meals he had paid for with a credit card.

“I don’t think they made any case at all regarding a conflict of interest,” Jackson told InsiderNJ. “I feel very good about it. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get back to the substance of the case at hand [against Trump.]”

More, from CBS:

“Fulton County prosecutors will not call District Attorney Fani Willis to the witness stand for additional questioning Friday, after she forcefully defended herself and accused defense attorneys of lying as part of a bid to disqualify her and her office from prosecuting the Georgia election interference case against former President Donald Trump.

“Willis testified for roughly two hours Thursday in the evidentiary hearing held before Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee. …

“A lawyer for Michael Roman, a former Trump campaign official, first raised the allegations about Willis and Wade last month and is seeking to have prosecutors involved in the case disqualified and the indictment dismissed. Trump and his allies are accused of orchestrating a scheme to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. They have pleaded not guilty to all charges.

“Both Wade and Willis testified Thursday, providing details about the origins of their relationship, trips they took together, their finances and other aspects of their relationship. They confirmed in a court filing earlier this month that they began a romantic relationship in early 2022, months after Willis appointed Wade special prosecutor to work on the sprawling racketeering case involving Trump.”

  1. I am no longer an AME.. Big to do about nothing is adultery, lying, and cheating. Are you kidding me? What is God’s word. Call a thing a thing.
