Hunterdon County Clerk Melfi to Take Oath of Office as Prez of NJAC

The New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC) will swear-in Hunterdon County Clerk Mary Melfi as its 77th President at 11:00 a.m. on January 26, 2018 in the Senate Chambers of the State House in Trenton.

“I look forward to leading NJAC this year as it continues advocating for county governments across the State with a proactive and solution driven approach to solving critical issues such as permanently extending the 2% cap on binding interest arbitration awards, funding county 911 centers, promoting the regionalization of services, and streamlining the Open Public Records Act,” said Hunterdon County Clerk and incoming NJAC President Mary Melfi.

Senator Kip Bateman (R-16) will administer the oath of office to Melfi and to NJAC’s 2018 slate of executive officers that include: Essex County Freeholder Brendan Gill as First Vice President, Cape May County Freeholder Marie Hayes as Second Vice President, Mercer County Freeholder John Cimino as Secretary/Treasurer, and Gloucester County Freeholder Heather Simmons as Immediate Past President.  Following the ceremony, culinary art students from Hunterdon County Polytech will provide a terrific lunch to invited guests at the Historic Trenton Masonic Temple.

“At a time in which county governments are playing a vital and growing role in the everyday lives of New Jersey residents, I would also like to commend NJAC’s executive officers and board of directors for their leadership, public service, and commitment to this outstanding organization as a valued and trusted resource,” Melfi said.

NJAC is committed to advocating for legislation, regulations, and policy directives that empower county governments to operate more efficiently and effectively.  As a non-partisan organization that represents the only true regional form of government in the State with a proactive and unified voice, NJAC is dedicated to enhancing the level of service provided and saving valuable taxpayer dollars.  Please visit our website at for more details about our growing organization.
