Incoming LoBo Bombshell: Names in the CD2 Game and the Potential for a Consolation Prize for Today’s Loser

Sources immediately started spitting names at CD2 in the aftermath of the news that U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-2) won’t pursue reelection in 2018, and what stood out inescapably was evidence of life after death in the closing hours of today’s hard fought contests.

First, everyone’s watching state Senator Jeff Van Drew (D-1).

But consider some other names and how the decision-making of some of them may hinge on today’s results.

Assemblyman Robert Andrzejczak (D-1). If slate mate Van Drew decides not to run, will the senator give him the go-ahead?

Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian. If the mayor doesn’t survive his local election today, might he resurface in a Republican Primary for LoBo’s seat?

Former GOP gubernatorial candidate and Egg Harbor native Hirsh Singh could take a look at a candidacy.

Former Assemblyman Vince Polistina (R-2). The engineer has deep pockets.

Senator Colin Bell (D-2). He’s on the ballot today. If he goes down to Assemblyman Chris Brown (R-2), might he seek to re-expand as a federal player?

Brown.

If the Republican senate candidate gets taken out by Bell, might he seek revenge against the Democratic Party machine for their shock and awe play in his district for Bell?

Then again, none of the aforementioned people is on a ballot next year.

Both the winners and losers might reconvene, making CD2 the ultimate grudge match of 2018.

Two Democrats, retired teacher Tanzie Youngblood and school administrator Sean Thom, are already in the contest.
