Murphy does a Mini Endzone Dance

On Wednesday, Phil Murphy held an on-line celebration of sorts to highlight a string of Election Day Democratic Party successes.

Today, he was asked about a looming exception to the rule – the possible failure of Democrat Amy Kennedy to beat Republican Jeff Van Drew in CD-2.

Beating Van Drew, who, of course, switched parties has been a priority for Democrats. Keep in mind that Kennedy is losing, but the margin is not overwhelming and there are many votes still to be tabulated.

Van Drew, by the way, already has claimed victory.

Is Kennedy’s possible defeat a sign of unhappiness in south Jersey with Murphy’s liberal politics?

That question was posed to the governor today and he kind of swatted it away.

“I’ve got no insights whether I played a role or whether I didn’t play a role,” he said.

Murphy then went on to say there is evidence all over the place that there is a “harmony between the policies we campaign on … and what people in our state want.”

He then reiterated some of Tuesday’s success stories for Dems in traditional Republican redoubts.

These included a sweep of county offices in Somerset County, strong challengers to Republicans in Morris County and inroads in many suburban communities.

The governor was also asked about another election-related matter – Sunday’s Donald Trump caravan that blocked traffic on the Garden State Parkway.

On Monday. officials said they would review video footage and possibly charge drives with traffic offenses.

But as of today, the governor said no summonses have been issued.
