LUPE PAC Board Member Felisha Reyes-Morton Joins Camden City Council as Youngest Member

 

CAMDEN, NJ – February 20, 2019 – LUPE PAC (Latinas United for Political Empowerment) board member Felisha Reyes-Morton has been appointed to the Camden City Council, making her the youngest member to serve. Reyes- Morton will represent Camden’s Fourth Ward, which encompasses the Cooper Grant, North Camden and Cramer Hill neighborhoods.

 

Reyes-Morton fills the seat vacated by Luis Lopez and will serve until the end of the year when Lopez’s term was set to expire. She has already announced her intention to run for election to a full, three-year term this November.

 

A lifelong resident of Camden, Reyes-Morton has been an active member of the community. She is the co-founder of the North Camden Little League, a member of the Camden City Democratic Committee, and the former vice president of the Camden City School Board. In addition, she served as service unit manager of the Camden City Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey.

She will bring new energy and vision to public service and will represent all her constituency well.  She has been a leader of our board helping us expand LUPE PAC’s reach to South Jersey, and now that she is an elected official, we are committed to helping her win her election next November.”

 

Reyes-Morton is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University from which she earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees.  As an undergraduate, she was a member of the Chi Alpha Epsilon National Honor Society and the National Society of Leadership and Success.  She received a bachelor of arts in criminal justice and Spanish degree in just three years. She completed a master’s degree in public policy and administration at Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2016. She is currently a personnel assistant for the Camden County Police Department. She resides in Camden with her husband, Bryan, and their three children.

 

She and her husband became vice president and president respectively of Concerned Citizens of North Camden that assists with recruitment and development of community partnerships in the North Camden community Together, they identify funding to help the organization plan and implement neighborhood improvement projects. In 2007, the couple founded the Community Building Corporation where they work with other community groups on community building initiatives.

 

In other LUPE PAC news, LUPE PAC board member Analila Mejia is assuming a position for the Sen. Bernie Sanders Campaign for President. She is leaving her current employment at New Jersey Working Families to serve as the national political director.
