Assemblyman Jerry Walker to Host “Fresh Start” Expungement Clinic in Jersey City on September 23

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Assemblyman Jerry Walker will join STONO Public Affairs and the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender for a Fresh Start Expungement Clinic on Wednesday, September 23, providing New Jersey residents with an opportunity to receive information and assistance regarding the expungement process.

The clinic will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the City Hall Annex, 39 Kearney Avenue, Annex 4, Jersey City, NJ 07305.

Expungement can provide eligible individuals with a fresh start by removing or isolating certain records from public access in accordance with New Jersey law. The clinic will help attendees better understand the process and determine what assistance may be available regarding eligible New Jersey-based offenses.

“Too often, a past mistake can continue to create barriers long after someone has served their sentence and worked to move forward,” said Assemblyman Jerry Walker (D-Hudson). “This clinic is about connecting people with resources, information and an opportunity for a fresh start. I encourage anyone who believes they may qualify to come out and learn more.”

The clinic will provide information concerning records associated with arrests, court proceedings, eligible criminal or juvenile convictions, and case outcomes. The event is limited to New Jersey-based offenses.

Appointments are not required, but advance registration is encouraged.
