Norcross All-in for Change in Neighboring CD-1, with Mullock

CAMDEN - U.S. Rep. Donald Norcross (D-1) this afternoon reunited with his former congressional colleague, former U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill.

"If you have to lose someone, this is a good way to lose 'em - when they become governor," Norcross said.

The South Jersey working class congressman hopes to gain another ally in D.C., and that's Cape May Mayor Zack Mullock.

Mullock's running in the November general against incumbent U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-1).

Norcross said for one, he knows that if Mullock gets in there, he won't change parties out of political expediency, a slap at former Democrat Van Drew.

Moreover, "Mayor Mullock understands that region better than anyone," Norcross added. "He is fundamentally a Jersey Shore guy. He cares about the Jersey Shore because he's lived it. I think he'll make a great congressman."

How does he win?

The Cook Report pegs the district plus five Republican.

"First and foremost, the cuts in Medicaid - the highest percentage are in that district, that's the biggest issue," said Norcross, referring to President Donald Trump's so-called Big Beautiful Bill.

"Affordability," the Congressman added. "The fact that he supported this war, that's taking money out of everyone pocket. Just go to the gas station. Change that and you can change the world."
